I think maybe Comedy Central didn’t want to censor that Muhammad version of South Park because of “crossing a line”, but more so to protect the writers (Trey Parker/Matt Stone) from some terrorist attack/assasination attempt, keeping in mind what happened to Danish journalists for releasing cartoons with satirical Islam references. Still though, I think its a weak move. This is America, as a muslim born person I think its our duty to not succumb to the will or threats of any foreign enemy of this country, especially terrorists (of any creed, religion, or political preference) who threaten our way of life. Which, we all know at times isn’t perfect, but at least its funny.

Yes, we all know the situation in Haiti is fucked. The archbishop is dead, the head of the UN peacekeeping mission is missing in the ruins of what was an already 3rd world country that faced poverty and hunger/starvation on a daily basis. But just because you post a status update, or twitter a message, or post an away that tells people where they can text money to doesn’t mean you are actually doing anything. Its not just about awareness! Its about actually finding a way to give back.
I’m also curious why such a big deal is being made about Haiti when the country could have already used all this extra attention and aid. Haiti has practically been a war zone for the last few decades as is. The situation has gotten progressively worse. Drug dealers kidnap people constantly and sell them on the black market. There is no middle or upper class, and shacks made of tin are used to house families the size of a home quarter the size of any “small” apt. in Boston.
Why do we wait until something drastic has happened until we choose to act, and then settle for not action but just two or three sentences to make us feel better about our day.
There are tons of people starving in your LOCAL cities, hundreds of thousands out of jobs who could use a meal, or simply a helping hand.
